IELTS-7-Glossary: English–Chinese Glossary

Meanings have words. To communicate meaning, we need words. The dilemma that any IELTS student faces is: which words would be useful to study while preparing for the IELTS test? This book can be described as a “no-nonsense” textbook for Chinese students. All the material in the text contains information that would be highly useful for the student while preparing for all four sections of the IELTS test.

Over the years the author has found that teachers often misunderstand what the actual needs of their students are, and they therefore often digress into long discussions and explanations which are not needed to enhance the Band Score of their students. With this in mind, the author has gone to great lengths to ensure that only material that is crucial was included, and that the language used in this book fits the level at which the students, for whom this book is intended, are at present..

They went to great lengths to ensure that the text complies with the highest standard of idiomatic American English and using only American English vocabulary as opposed to British English vocab.

The glossary contains 70 topics most commonly found in IELTS tests. Lists of useful words have been selected for each topic. These words can all be used whenever the student is asked to speak or write about that particular topic. Chapter 42 contains 237 words that differ in American and British English
